Happy Tuesday! Tuesday isn’t my most favorite day of the week, but I love doing Top Five Tuesday so I’ll make an exception! This week’s prompt is the Top Five Series I Want to Start This Year. This list may be a little ambitious, as some of the books in them are extremely long (see my post on how I’m intimidated by big books), but I’m hopeful I can start at least three of them in 2018. Top Five Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Bookworm, and I’m excited to share my 2018 Book Series Wishlist!

1. The Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden
The Bear and the Nightingale, The Girl in the Tower, The Winter of the Witch
I’m not typically into Young Adult books, but this series has been on my radar for awhile. It takes place in Russia, which is an obsession of mine, so it’s an obvious choice for me to read. I also enjoy magical qualities in books, so another win for me! I already own The Bear and the Nightingale, and I’m hoping to read it either this month or next month, so I’m confident I will definitely be starting this series in 2018!
2. Stillhouse Lake Series by Rachel Caine
Stillhouse Lake, Killman Creek, Wolfhunter River
I picked up Stillhouse Lake on Amazon and I didn’t even realize it was the first in a series! At least I bought the first one and not the second or third installment, right?? The premise of the first book looks SO good. I love the idea of what happens to a serial killer’s family after he goes to prison. Since I already have the first book in the series on my Kindle, I’m sure this series will get started this year!
3. Hogarth Shakespeare Series by Various Authors
New Boy, Hag-Seed, Vinegar Girl, The Gap of Time, Dunbar, Shylock is My Name, Macbeth
I have Macbeth by Jo Nesbo on my radar this year, and then I came across the Hogarth Shakespeare series on Goodreads. I adore Shakespeare’s works, so the idea that different authors wrote modern retellings of his plays is outstanding! I’m not sure if this technically counts as a series, but I’m going to make it work! I obviously don’t own any of these books since I didn’t even know they existed and Macbeth hasn’t been released yet, so there’s no knowing if I’ll get to any of these in 2018!
4. Dune Chronicles by Frank Herbert
Dune, Dune Messiah, Children of Dune, God Emperor of Dune, Heretics of Dune, Chapterhouse: Dune
I have always wanted to read this series! I’ve seen the original 1970s movie as well as the SyFy original miniseries, and I really enjoyed both versions of the Dune Chronicles. Now, these books are pretty massive, so they may take some time to get through, but these books are definitely on my Book Bucket List. I don’t own any books in this series, and they are all pretty lengthy, so I think it’s safe to say that this won’t get started this year.
5. Bill Hodges Trilogy by Stephen King
Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers, End of Watch
I added Mr. Mercedes to my POPSUGAR Reading Challenge this year, so obviously this is a series that I’ve wanted to get to for some time. Mr. Mercedes was turned into a TV series, and I haven’t read a Stephen King book that I haven’t enjoyed. I’m excited to get started with these books! I don’t own any of them, but I already have Mr. Mercedes on my library list. Plus, it’s part of my Reading Challenge so I’m pretty sure I’ll get this series started this year!
Do you think this is an ambitious list? Do you have any series that you’ve been dying to get to? Let me know below!
