Book Lists, Monthly TBRs

January TBR

January TBR 2018

Good morning, all! Unfortunately, as you’re reading this, I will be back at work after a glorious week off. It’s an unfortunate circumstance, but I’m making the best of it. The more money I make, the more books I can buy!

January TBR: Top 6

I managed to snag a lot of ARCs from publishers before the end of the 2017, so I’d really like to get to them before their publication dates. Therefore, most of my January TBR contains those ARCs.

The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen

The Wife Between Us

Goodreads Rating: 4.2 Stars

This was my Book of the Month pick for December 2017 (along with The Chalk Man by C.J. Tudor) and it’s the chosen book for Salt Water Reads on Instagram and I can’t wait to see where this story leads!

How to Stop Time by Matt Haig

How to Stop Time

Goodreads Rating: 4.13 Stars

This book will be released in early February, so I want to get it done and reviewed before its release date. It looks so good!

Force of Nature by Jane Harper

Force of Nature Monday Reading Update

Goodreads Rating: 4.03 Stars

I read The Dry a few months ago and enjoyed it, but won this in a Goodreads Giveaway before I read the first one. So now I have to continue the series!

Sunburn by Laura Lippman

Goodreads Rating: 3.86 Stars

I read a few Laura Lippman novels in the past, and am very interested in this particular story. So I requested a review copy and can’t wait to get to it!

The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah

The Great Alone

Goodreads Rating: 4.16 Stars

Kristin Hannah is one of my favorite authors, so it’s obvious I had to get my hands on The Great Alone. This one is also released in February so I want to get it it before that date.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

Night Circus

Goodreads Rating: 4.03 Stars

I keep saying I will read this book, yet every month passes by without me picking it up. I made a deal that every month I would read at least one book on my shelf that I already own, so this one is it!

There are months where I manage to read more than 6 books a month, which is amazing! So every month I create a backlist of books to choose from in order to keep organized. I try to be an organized person, but it doesn’t always work out!

I Was Anastasia by Ariel Lawhon

I Was Anastasia

Goodreads Rating: 4.19 Stars

I’m dying to read this one, but I’m trying to read ARCs in the order of their release date. This one releases in March, so I would like to get to it before then!

The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden

The Bear and the Nightingale

Goodreads Rating: 4.14 Stars

I bought this one at Barnes and Noble with a gift card, and it takes place (sort of?) in Russia. I am obsessed with Russia, so I’d like to check out this series!

Orlando by Virginia Woolf

Goodreads Rating: 3.86 Stars

I bought this book for a dollar at an estate sale last summer but never got around to it. It looks relatively short, so I’d like to knock this one off my list!

Dead Ends: Stories from the Gothic South edited by J.T. Ellison

Dead Ends

Goodreads Rating: 3.89 Stars

I bought this collection of short stories on sale for my Kindle, and I loved Lie To Me by J.T. Ellison, so I have a feeling that these stories will be amazing!

There are a lot of great winter reads on this list! The Night Circus, The Great Alone and The Bear and the Nightingale all have that cozy winter vibe to them, so I’m excited to snuggle up in bed with coffee or tea and just read away! What are your reading plans for January or even the new year? Let me know below!

    1. I’m a pretty organized person so I have my monthly TBRs planned through March. Some people enjoy the spontaneity of grabbing a book off the shelf and reading it just because. I admire those people!

  1. This is awesome. A lot of your picks are ones that I have on my lists as well. You should join the Beat the Backlist Challenge! That way when you do finish books on that list, you feel a little more accomplished at the end of the year! I look forward to your reviews of each of these, and I cannot wait to discuss Night Circus and the Wife Between Us with you :]

    1. I even seeing the Beat the Backlot challenge everywhere, but I plan on doing at least one blacklist book a month, more if possible. I’m literally reading The Wife Between Us as I’m writing this and I can’t wait to talk about it!
