Currently Reading Book Tag

I was tagged by the wonderful Cozy Books for this Currently Reading Book Tag. Apparently I was tagged a week ago but WordPress never notified me! What’s up with that, WordPress?? Go check out Cozy Books when you’re done reading my post, of course! So let’s get cracking!!

This tag was originally created by Charly Reynhorse and you can watch the video here.

How many books do you usually read at once?

I literally only read one at a time. My attention span can’t access more than one thing without forgetting something vital, so one book is my absolute limit. I’ve tried more than one book before, but it just didn’t work out! I know, it’s weird, but it’s just the way I am.

If you are reading more than one book at a time, how do you decide when to switch books?

See above question.

Do you ever switch bookmarks while you are partway through a book?

No sir. I always stick to the same bookmark while reading a book. But after that book is finished, I try to switch up my bookmarks so they all get used. I also try to theme them accordingly. For Artemis, I used a bookmark featuring a rocket ship that I got years ago because I thought it was just so appropriate! I’m also in the process of making my own fun bookmarks!!

Where do you keep the book(s) you are currently reading?

They stay on my bedside table most of the time. I have my TBR pile at the foot of my bed and, since I read in bed a lot, my current read goes right next to me when I’m ready to go to sleep. Otherwise, I carry it in my Book of the Month bag wherever I go.

What time of day do you spend the most time reading?

The biggest chunk of reading time is right before I go to bed. Sometimes I manage to start reading at 8pm and read until bed around 11 or 12 at night. Otherwise, I read on my lunch hour from 1 to 3 during the day. The weekends are hit or miss. I could read for a whole stretch of time, or not pick up a single book.

How long do you typically read in one setting?

It really depends on how good the book is! If I’m loving it, then I can read for hours upon hours until it’s finished. Like Bonfire by Krysten Ritter. Or, if I’m just not that into it, I can go a whole weekend without reading.

Do you read hardcovers with the dust jacket on or off?

Honestly, I should. I get so annoyed when the dust jacket isn’t even with the cover while I’m holding it. I swear I have slight OCD tendencies. But I just don’t think I can read without the dust jacket. That’s part of the reading experience for me!

What position do you mainly use to read?

When reading on a chair, it’s typically 1, 3, 5 and 8. When I’m in bed, it’s any way I can get comfortable.

Do you take the book you are currently reading with you everywhere?

Of course! I carry my Book of the Month bag around with me everywhere I go, so my current read is always in there. Sometimes it’s just my kindle and one physical book. Right now I have my kindle and two books I plan on reading after my current eBook. You never know where you might end up finishing a book!

How often do you update your Goodreads progress on the book you’re currently reading?

I have before, but I don’t really mind either way. It’s not something I HAVE to do, but if I’m on Goodreads and I notice it, I’ll fill it out really quick. Otherwise, I rarely ever do.

  1. The reading positions question is really fun. I typically read on the couch at my apartment so I’ve either raised the footrest for the recliner section, or I’m just stretched out across the couch. Other than that, while at work and such, I am reading at a desk so it isn’t nearly as relaxing.

    Great answers!

          1. When I was younger I was so good at blocking out the rest of the world when I was reading. Sadly as an adult I have to pay attention to the time so I don’t go over my lunch break or I’m not late for work or whatever. I miss the good old days.
