Top 5 Reasons Why I Blog: Top 5 Tuesday

Top 5 Reasons Why I Blog

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Shane @ Bionic Bookworm. This week’s topic is the top 5 reasons why I blog. Happy Tuesday everyone!! Here in America, Thanksgiving is this Thursday, so that means I get a nice short week at work where we don’t have to do too much. I’m very thankful for that!! The boyfriend is still away, still in St. Thomas, and I’m super jealous. Basically whenever he isn’t doing work, he’s hanging at the beach! Meanwhile, back here in Jersey, it’s so cold and we had our first taste of snow on Sunday night. Not. Cool. Well, I guess technically it is cool, but not in the way I mean it! Hopefully he’ll be coming home soon!

I wanted to do this topic so that everyone can get to know me and what I hope to accomplish with my own blog. This community has become really important to me, and although I know that seeking approval isn’t something I need, I like the fact that others learn something out of my blog. So, onto my list!!

Top 5 Reasons Why I Blog

Reason #1: I LOVE Talking About Books!

Obviously, the first reason is because I love to read and talk about books! I don’t have a lot of friends that share my immense reading habit, so I thought creating a blog where others could talk about books would be a fun idea. And it really was. This was probably the best decision I’ve made this year! I have met so many wonderful bloggers. We have had some great discussions. Basically, now I don’t have to bug the people in my life about the books I love. I can bug all of you! But it’s okay, because most of you LOVE THAT!

Reason #2: I Really Enjoy Writing!

Writing Top 5 Reasons Why I Blog

Seriously. I was the weird kid in high school who wrote five to ten page essays in one night. I have a knack for writing, and it’s something that I’ve always loved doing. My blog gives me an outlet to write about things that interest me. I can improve my writing skills while doing what I love to do! Maybe, one day, I’ll write a novel! I’ve always wanted to write a novel. I just haven’t found that A-HA idea. I’m still working on that…

Reason #3: I Love Getting Book Recommendations!

Since I started my blog and read other book blogs, I have created a HUGE TBR list! Although that doesn’t seem like a good thing, most of the books that I’ve read the past month or so were recommendations from other book bloggers. And most of those books were the best books I’ve read all year, maybe even of all time! I like seeing what other people are reading, and maybe finding a great book to read for myself in the process. There are SO MANY good books out there, and I can’t read them all, but I can certainly try!

Reason #4: I Have A LOT of Time to Spare!

Okay, so maybe this isn’t always true. But there are some nights and weekends where I’m literally sitting around at home doing nothing. My blog needs lots of tending to, so it takes up a lot of my time in a positive way. Since I started blogging in September, I’ve spent at least an hour a day working on my blog, coming up with posts and lists, and reading books. I think it’s been a really productive use of my time, and I’m so glad that I started it! Of course, there are times where I’m simply lazy and don’t want to do anything. That’s why WordPress has a Schedule Post option!

Reason #5: I Get to Meet and Inspire Others!

Friends Top 5 Reasons Why I Blog

It’s not easy meeting new people and making new friends. I’m in my 30s now and I’m pretty set in my ways. I’m also pretty shy when I first meet people, so being able to connect with other book lovers over the internet is MUCH less intimidating for me. The cherry on top is offering other readers and bloggers a fresh perspective, essentially inspiring them with my own thoughts and ideas. That’s a pretty cool reason to start a blog! It makes me feel like my own words matter not just to me but to other people.

And those are the top 5 reasons why I blog! I love doing these memes as they give me some great ideas for lists, and this one was absolutely no different. I hope you enjoyed my lengthy list, and if you’re thinking about starting a blog yourself, then please know that it’s worth it. There’s a lot of work involved, but there are so many benefits in the end. Happy Tuesday!!

  1. Love your list! I especially relate to your last point. I’m also in my 30’s and meeting new people is so hard! Im too afraid to go out on that limb and talk to people. And, honestly, I don’t get along with most people! But other book lovers are my people and it’s so easy to connect with them!
    Thanks for sharing and participating!
Also, very jealous that your BF gets to spend his downtime on a beach!! lol

  2. I feel like I’ve had a few A-HA moments, in regards to writing a novel, my problem is in how hard the pacing and plotting is! I got 75 pages into a novel and realized how HARD it is to write the middle of a book. Beginnings and ends, no problem, but all the stuff in the middle, that’s rough.

Really great list, and nice to meet you.

  3. I agree with all of your reasons for blogging. It seems like nobody else around me reads nearly as much as I do, so blogging has given me a place where I can gush about books with others without feeling like maybe I’m just annoying them. I’ve made some wonderful book friends this year, and I’ve watched as my blog has grown and I’ve found so many new books to add to my TBR.

As for the writing, I found that finishing my first book and releasing it to the world wasn’t so bad; trying to finish the second book has been a lot harder. I’m always worried that it isn’t going to live up to the expectations set by the first one. I’ve been stuck at only needing to write a few more chapters on my second book for about three years now. What I need to do is just suck it up and get the words on the page.

    1. Get it done! Yes, I love meeting soany people that I have so much in common with! What’s so awesome is that no one blogger has the same taste in books,so I get to broaden my reading horizons! Thanks for the comment!!

  4. Hahahaha I don’t have a lot of time to spare! I steal time to blog 😉 And I also was the odd kid writing a whole essay kind of a mini novel and everyone looked flabbergasted: why would I do that??? LOL
