Social Media

Hey all! I wanted to write a quick post focusing on my social media accounts. I’m new to this whole blogging thing, but in the two months that I’ve been blogging, I have felt like a welcome part of the book blogging community. I want to try to focus my efforts on my social media pages as well, and I would love any good tips you guys have since most of you have been at this longer me!

Facebook

I obviously started with a Facebook page. At this point I mostly just have family and friends of mine liking and following my page. I DO want to build my following a bit there, but I would much rather have substantial followers than just random people looking for a Follow 4 Follow (I’m not a fan of those). I currently follow a bunch of other book blogs and authors as my page so as to keep my two accounts relatively separate. Does anyone else agree with this method or would you rather follow as yourself?

Here’s the link to my Facebook page and feel free to follow. I’m still trying to figure this whole thing out. I’m currently only using my Facebook page to promote my blog posts, but I’d like to start posting a bit outside of that. What do you do for Facebook posts?

Facebook Social Media

Twitter

Okay. So I don’t have a personal Twitter account. I never have and I probably never will. I’m not a fan of Twitter in general, but I made an account anyway for my blog. I’m currently only following other blogs and authors, and that probably won’t change. I might not keep the account since I barely use it. I’m just trying to find what works best for me right now. I’ve noticed a lot of really great book chatter on Twitter and would like to find a way to use it appropriately, though.

Feel free to follow me on Twitter and interact with me! But please bear with me as I learn all the ins and outs of the Twitterverse!

Twitter Social Media

Instagram

Of all the social media platforms, this is the one that’s my favorite by far. It’s the easiest for me to maneuver and one that I use the most personally for interaction purposes. I LOVE taking pictures, and taking pictures of my books has been so much fun since I started my blog’s Instagram! #Bookstagram is absolutely wonderful, and everyone I follow and follows me is absolutely kind and friendly!

Here’s my Instagram link so go follow along as I read my books (and take pictures of them!)

Pinterest

Ahh the elusive Pinterest. I cannot get enough of Pinterest! I could peruse Pinterest for hours and pin thousands of links and photos, but I can’t seem to get my blog’s Pinterest off the ground! When it comes to promoting my blog there, I’m pretty much clueless, so I could use all the help I can get with it. I’ve read blog posts where bloggers praise Pinterest for the amount of traffic they get from it, but I don’t think I’ve had a single person click on one of my pins. And it feels like the harder I work, the more confused I get and nothing gets done.

I currently have a trial subscription for the Tailwind app, but I haven’t had much luck with it. I guess I’m just not creating enough rich pins. I’ve also never been a good scheduler. I usually just fly by the seat of my pants!

Here’s my blog’s Pinterest page. Feel free to follow me and you are more than welcome to offer me some advice on how to get some traffic to my blog!

Goodreads

Last but not least is my Goodreads account. This is my personal account and I’ve had it for so many years. I’ve always loved Goodreads, since it keeps track of the books I’ve read. One time I almost accidentally read a book twice because I forgot I read it! Thank God I had it marked on my Goodreads otherwise I would have bought it again. It was only in the past few weeks that I realized how social Goodreads is. I’ve never had any friends on the account and didn’t even know I could add friends, and I never ever checked my notifications until the other day! But, now that I’m aware of all the Goodreads social features, I’ve been using them like crazy! I even won a Goodreads Giveaway the other day, and I’m excited to enter more.

There isn’t much more I can do for promotion for Goodreads, but I’d love to add more friends! I love seeing what others are reading and checking out reviews!

So what I’m trying to accomplish with this post is to boost my social media pages a bit. I’d also love some great ideas on how to get more traffic to my blog with my social media pages. Is there any advice any of you have that would help me? I’m open to try anything at least once! Leave me some love below! Thanks!!

  1. I don’t have many followers on my facebook page, but I like to share articles and book deals when I find them. I also share my blog posts, but I feel like I’m able to share the little things there which I like.

  2. I will follow on IG as it’s my favorite too! I love bookstagrams. Facebook is my main social media. Book reviews don’t really gather many interests. What people are looking for are sales, new releases, giveaways and stuff like that. I’m on Twitter as well but don’t really like it as it’s soooo frustrating for someone chatty like me ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. I think we are very similar in our approaches to social media! I do not have a twitter account, and as long as Trump is president, I won’t have one! I use Instagram a lot! and I just followed you there. I also like pinterest but use it more for remembering recipes and quotes that I like. I pin all my recipes from my blog there as well, but don’t see it as a “blog builder”-I found you on pinterest as well. My blog has a Facebook page associated with it and I keep that separate from my personal blog. Both fb pages are low on the followers but that is ok with me. I have nothing to sell or no business to promote, so it is all good! I look forward to checking out some of your book recommendations ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I am so with you on not liking the Follow for a Follow. I will only follow people whose blogs I genuinely enjoy. Which is why I will follow yours. As far as Twitter goes, I was on the fence about it myself but have found an amazing wealth of information and author feedback on there. Some of my favorite authors have actually written me back when Iโ€™ve tagged them in my blog posts. I๏ธ highly recommend using that platform. Iโ€™ve been doing this about a year now and while my number of followers is still low itโ€™s growing. Iโ€™ve yet to figure out how to grow my comment sections which Iโ€™d like to do. Youโ€™re doing great!
